On June 16, 2012, the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society held a Patient Safety Symposium in conjunction with its Annual General Meeting in Quebec City, Quebec.
Symposium topic: Working and Learning as a Team to Improve Patient Safety
Objectives:
- List the key elements of the anesthesia non-technical skills
- List the key elements of crisis resource management skills in anesthesia
- Summarize the advantages of interprofessional training in general and for the management of crises
- Identify clinical situations in which the OR team members could benefit from practice using simulation (of various degrees of realism) in their own institutions
- Determine how to collaborate in order to develop learning/simulation activities in their own institutions.
