As Canada looks to start easing restrictions, what are the next steps for anesthesiologists? We examine this in our webinar Resuming Elective Procedures. Although the provinces and individual regions may differ regarding their local circumstances and face these discussions at different times, many of the issues faced will be common to all.

Join the discussion as the panel discusses the various approaches in BC, Toronto, and Quebec City, as well as the role of COVID community infection rates, PCR testing, patient symptoms and anesthesiologists’ own risks in determining appropriate PPE use during elective surgery.

After attending the webinar, the participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the factors that need to be considered when planning to resume elective procedures.
  2. Review the role of preoperative PCR testing for elective surgical patients.
  3. Discuss and compare the approaches planned in BC, Toronto, and Laval on the use of PPE and preoperative testing for elective surgical patients.
  4. Discuss the role of COVID community infection rates, PCR testing, patient symptoms, and anesthesiologists’ own risks in determining appropriate PPE use during elective surgery.
