Dr Jadon Harding was raised in Dipper Harbour, a small fishing village in New Brunswick. After finishing high school, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the University of New Brunswick, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from Memorial University in St. John’s, NL.
It was at MUN Med that Jadon discovered the field of anesthesia, after shadowing anesthesiologists that would later become his colleagues and friends. During medical school, Jadon served on several committees (such as the finance committee for the annual medical charity gala) and also served as the New Brunswick medical student representative.
Jadon completed an anesthesia residency at MUN in 2014. During residency, he instituted a national survey regarding the use of Anesthesia Information Management Systems within academic anesthesia departments throughout Canada. This research was accepted for a poster presentation at the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society Meeting in 2013 (unfortunately, that event was canceled due to flooding).
At present, Dr. Harding is an active member of the Department of Anesthesia at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, NL, and a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at MUN. Along with his clinical responsibilities, he participates in the education of medical students, residents, paramedic students, and respiratory therapy students.
During his career, Dr. Harding has developed a special interest in opioid-free anesthesia and has been a strong advocate for minimizing opioid use in clinical settings. This interest led him to present on the topic of opioid-free anesthesia at the CAS Atlantic Meeting in February 2023.
He has also been an advocate for increased training and awareness of Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He became an ACLS instructor with his local health authority during his residency and continues to instruct nurses, paramedics, physicians, and medical students. He is also a member of his health authority’s Cardiac Event Response Advisory Committee.
Outside of work, Dr. Harding is a faithful member of his church. Over the years, he has served on the church’s board, been active in children’s and youth ministries, facilitated various small groups, and has coordinated and participated in the church’s music ministry.
Jadon has been married to his wife, Krista, for almost seventeen years and together they have three children: Judah (13), Sarah (11), and Chloe (8).
