CAS and the Chronic Pain Section are pleased to invite you to a Neuromodulation webinar on September 27, 2023. The webinar promotes the advancement of neuromodulation in the treatment of chronic pain and provides leadership in the responsible and safe use of neuromodulation therapies. Learn from our expert presenter how to treat specific chronic pain patients using the most up-to-date knowledge and insight.
As a result of attending the webinar, the participant will be able to:
1. Highlight advanced pain management techniques, such as neuromodulation
2. Review applications of this to chronic pain management
3. Discuss considerations of these devices for anesthesiologists
Moderator: Dr David Sussman, Assistant Professor, University of Toronto, Chronic Pain Section Vice-Chair
Dr Sussman completed his fellowship in chronic and interventional pain at St. Michael’s Hospital at the University of Toronto, with a focus on the treatment of chronic pain and interventional techniques to prevent the progression of chronic pain using different imaging modalities (xray and ultrasound guidance). His research interests are focused on developing new techniques to manage patients’ suffering from chronic pain using interventional techniques. Following his passion for medical education Dr Sussman is completing a masters of education to help with curriculum development and evaluation in all areas of training. Outside of clinical practice he is interested in aerospace and aviation medicine.
Presenter: Dr Vishal Varshney, Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Physician at Providence Health Care, Vancouver, British Columbia Dr Varshney completed medical school from the University of Calgary, and his residency in anesthesiology at the University of British Columbia. He completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Calgary, being one of the first physicians certified in Pain Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in western Canada. He has an interest in neuromodulation and medical education, serving as former Chief Technology Officer of the North American Neuromodulation Society Resident and Fellow Section. Dr. Varshney is the physician lead for the Pacific Pain Forum Planning Committee.
