Accreditation Services

As an accredited continuous professional development (CPD) provider of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, CAS can review and accredit Section 1 and Section 3 (Self-Assessment Program & Simulation) activities and can engage in co-development projects with non-physician organizations. Our Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) team can also provide you with assistance in organizing and accrediting your meeting through the CAS.

How to Apply for Accreditation

Accreditation applications should be submitted to the CAS office, at accredit@cas.ca, as early as possible. We recommend that you submit at least 6 weeks before the activity date, to avoid late fees or the possibility of CAS declining to review.

The submission should include the application form and all the required attachments, and you must follow all relevant CAS Accreditation processes, guidelines, and policies, as well as the National Standard for Support of Accredited CPD Activities and the Canadian Medical Association Guidelines for Physicians in Interactions with Industry.

Please allow for extra time, as early as possible in the development phase, to familiarize yourself with the accreditation process and the relevant guidelines and standards.

The CAS Accreditation Process and Resources Booklet, accessible here, contains useful information, such as:

  • The accreditation process for applications
  • A description of required application documents & forms
  • Our process for co-development with non-physician organization
  • Our accreditation policy and co-development accreditation policy
  • External policies
  • CAS accreditation guidelines
  • The accreditation application fee structure
  • A guide for the official use of logos and accreditation documents

Our revised and updated Application form is available here
