Dr Banasch is an anesthesiologist at the Royal Alexandra hospital in Edmonton Alberta and holds an academic appointment with the university of Alberta. Raised in the shadows of the southern Alberta mountains and he pursued a bachelor's degree of science and medical school at the university of Calgary.

Dr Banasch is the current secretary treasurer of the Alberta medical association section of anesthesia executive board. He has a strong focus on education, having been the undergraduate and postgraduate education coordinator at South Health Campus in Calgary, AB.
