Dr. Mateen Raazi, MD, FRCPC, is an Associate Professor and the inaugural Provincial Department Head of the Provincial Department of Anesthesiology, University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). His previous roles include Residency Program Director and Provincial Executive Director of Education for the University of Saskatchewan and the SHA. Dr. Raazi also serves as a Board member (and Saskatchewan Division Representative) of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS) as well as the President of the Association of Canadian University Departments of Anesthesiology (ACUDA).
After earning his medical degree at the King Edward Medical College in Pakistan, Dr. Raazi undertook an Internship in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai, New Jersey Englewood Campus, and Anesthesiology residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then completed fellowships in Chronic Pain Management at UMDNJ, Pediatric Anesthesiology and Pediatric Critical Care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania, and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Raazi’s clinical interests focus on residency training and pediatric anesthesia. His research focuses on pediatric preoperative anxiety, equity in pediatric dental care, medical education, healthcare systems learning and adaptation, physician wellness, and medical leadership.
For his contributions and innovations in education and academics, Dr. Raazi has been honored with various recognitions and awards including the Certificate of Merit from the Canadian Association of Medical Education (CAME).
